LOUIS RUTTEN SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL was established by Brothers of the Immaculate Conception (FIC) in September 2019 to educate young people in the spirit of their founders who were captivated by God and people.

Brief History of the Brothers FIC: The FIC is a congregation of Catholic Religious Brothers who dedicate themselves to the service of God in the field of teaching, education, and formation of young people in the spirit of Christ. The congregation has its headquarters in the Netherlands and currently has a presence in five countries- The Netherlands, Chile, Indonesia, Malawi, and Ghana. It was started in 1840 by Monsignor Louis Rutten (school has been named after him) with primary focus on youth formation. After a fifty-four year presence in Ghana, the congregation boasts of Nandom SHS, St GabrielÔÇÖs Basic School, St Andrews, St MaryÔÇÖs, St Charles Lwanga, St Louis Educational Complex, The Jubilee School in Nandom, St JohnÔÇÖs Vocational/Technical Institute, St BasilideÔÇÖs Vocational/Technical Institute, St Kizito, Catholic Technical Institute, and others as accomplishments in the field of education. Despite these schools now being government assisted, they were initially started and run by the FIC Congregation.

The idea to start LoRut was born out of the wealth of experiences of the Congregation in the field of education, and the need for an alternative SHS providing quality education for both boys and girls across the globe.

Details of School:

Initially, the plan of the Brothers FIC was to start projects with own resources, nurture them to maturity and hand over and move on. Consequently, core values for establishing these institutions are being compromised leading to an outcry by concerned persons for these schools to be taken back by their original proprietors. This action though necessary, is complicated by the limited human resource of the FIC (there are few Brothers for the task). Hence, the need to narrow down our apostolic presence to our privately owned schools where we can give Catholic Education to young people with limited interference.
